Where New Worlds Begin
Apparently, writing regular romance wasn’t complicated enough.
I’ve always loved romance.
Give me complicated people, impossible choices, a little heartbreak, a lot of chemistry, and two people who absolutely should just talk to each other but refuse to do so for approximately three hundred pages, and I’m happy.
That’s where my writing began.
Then, somewhere along the way, things got… weird.
Suddenly there were wolves.
And magic.
And fairies.
And men with wings.
At some point a dragon showed up, and instead of asking myself the reasonable question—What am I doing?—I apparently thought, You know what this needs? More worldbuilding.
And that is pretty much how we got here. 🤣
From Romance to… Whatever This Is
I don’t think I ever consciously decided to start writing different kinds of stories. I just followed the characters.
My contemporary romances let me explore the things I’ve always loved most about the genre: falling in love, finding your person, second chances, family, friendship, heartbreak, healing, and all the messy things people do on their way to happily ever after.
Then paranormal romance opened another door.
Because apparently regular relationship problems aren’t enough when your characters can also have supernatural abilities, dangerous enemies, family secrets, and possibly turn into something with teeth.
That was fun.
Possibly too much fun.
Because once I realized I could make up the rules, my imagination apparently filed for independence.
And Then Came Romantasy
This is the newest rabbit hole I’ve fallen into.
And when I say fallen, I mean there was no graceful descent.
I went straight down.
Now there are castles. Dragons. Magic. Fairies. Elves. Entire worlds that need histories, rules, landscapes, creatures, kingdoms—and approximately nine thousand details I hadn’t considered when I casually thought:
I should write fantasy.
Excellent decision, E.A.
No notes. 🤣
The funny thing is that underneath all the magic, I’m still writing what I’ve always written.
Love stories.
The world might be bigger. The danger might be greater. My characters may have wings, fangs, magic, or a deeply inconvenient destiny—but I still care about the same thing:
Who are these people?
Why do they belong together?
What could possibly keep them apart?
And exactly how much can I torture them before I finally let them be happy?
That last one is very important.
So, What Is This Blog Going to Be?
That is an excellent question.
I’m glad you asked.
Mostly because I’m still figuring that out too. 😂
I can tell you what it won’t be.
I’m not going to appear here every week pretending I have profound author wisdom to share. There will be no regularly scheduled essays about my fascinating morning routine. Trust me, you’re not missing anything.
And I really don’t want this to become a never-ending stream of:
BUY MY BOOK.
DID YOU BUY MY BOOK?
HERE IS ANOTHER LINK TO BUY MY BOOK.
Although, in the interest of complete transparency, there may occasionally be some begging.
I do have books to sell.
Let’s not get ridiculous. 🤣
But mostly, I want this to be a place where I can share the things happening behind the books.
Characters I love. Stories I’m working on. Worlds I’m building. Books I’m reading. Random things that inspire me. Deleted scenes. Sneak peeks. Cover reveals. Creatures, magic, romance, writing disasters, and whatever happens to be living rent-free in my head that week.
Basically, all the things that don’t quite belong on a book page but are still part of the strange little universe that is E.A. Weston.
Welcome to My Corner of the Internet
If you’ve read one of my books before, I’m glad you found your way here.
If you’re new, welcome.
There are contemporary love stories on one side, wolves and supernatural trouble lurking somewhere in the middle, and an increasingly suspicious number of magical creatures appearing on the horizon.
I have no idea exactly where all of this is going.
But I think that might be the best part.
Every story starts with a tiny idea—a character, a moment, a question, a what if?
And sometimes, if you follow it far enough, that tiny idea becomes an entirely new world.
So that’s what I’m doing.
Following it.
And apparently bringing all of you with me.
Welcome to the adventure. 💜
